Our Yoga classes in Paris

Who could describe Himayoga and the benefits of Yoga better than our students? Find out how they feel about it in these few testimonies:

Tiphaine Scott de Martinville, coach

“Very subtly, and more than I thought, Yoga leads me towards a more authentic life.
At first I was fickle. A class here, a class there… But right away I loved the power of asanas, the depth of the breathing, and the self-discovery of my body. This moment of serenity made me come back.  Reconnected from my center to the tip of my fingers, aligned with my true Self.
Through her gentle coaxing, her subtle encouragements, Céline has deepened my commitment. Himayoga has become a cocoon where I got in touch with my potential, experienced fear and amazement, and reached shores I thought were lost. No one knew. Each mat is a shelter. The energy of the whole reaches for the sky, in an invocation to the master who brought us these teachings.
Long live Himayoga. I wish for everyone to find here the vast expanse of freedom within their Self.”

Sophie Watteaux, free-lance sales

“By chance, I found a Himayoga flyer last December. I was looking for Yoga classes thinking it might help relieve the back pain I’ve had for the past 15 years.
So, I tried a class. I met Céline at the first lesson, and that’s when the magic began. The space (with the beautiful bamboo banner) made me feel comfortable instantly. I felt safe with the poses (my big fear being to throw my back!), and trusted right away Céline’s soft voice.
I also get my memory working on new words that I don’t understand at first but are so beautiful (for instance " Utthita Trikonasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, Sirsasana etc...)
The Himayoga team offers true diversity with each personality, and each class ends with a touch of soothing lavender fragrance.
When I leave I feel strong, tall, happy and I really miss it when I go on vacation!
But above all I notice how beneficial it is for my body and for my mind; I easily changed my posture, don’t need crutches such as osteopathy, physical therapy, ethiopathy, etc. My last stress-related pains have now disappeared!
What a joy in a stressful world…
I was lucky to pick up this flier a year ago, thank you Céline and team for teaching us Iyengar Yoga.”

Anissa Carmien, retraitée

“You are stiff as a board!” That’s how all my teachers were describing me, from grade school until much later!!! So, when I hear 50 years later: “My, you are supple!” it is funny to me. Yes, my body has loosened up with age! And that’s the magic of Yoga!
A working mom with 3 children, an often-traveling husband, I was working in a hospital under less than ideal conditions; all of this wasn’t always easy to manage! So I needed a breath of fresh air.
I went to my first Yoga class a little over 20 years ago, to give it a try. I discovered that it wasn’t about sleeping (by far!), but that the entire body was put to work (including muscles I didn’t know I had!). This class was for me a time for a break, for listening to my body; it became a date with myself, a bubble of oxygen in my week.
Little by little, I saw myself becoming calmer, happier and more serene. The members of my family all benefited from it, and as time went by, they all started to practice Yoga, even my 3 year old grand child!
For the past 4 years, I’ve been following Céline’s class; she teaches Iyengar Yoga with great gentleness and competence, a very precise and rigorous method. Thanks to finely tuned postures, some age-related joint pains are today just bad memories.
Thank you Céline, for all you brought me.”

Elisabeth Couque, film editor

“I’ve been practicing regularly Iyengar Yoga for 23 years. I tried a class at random and discovered a physical practice I liked. I felt soon that it was changing my body, and I discovered later that it beneficiated my mental as well. I had no idea that Yoga could be anything besides a sort of introspective nap.
I was always limber, but also soft and on the plump side; Yoga quickly slimmed me down, toned and energized me. It was surprising to me because I thought that more sweat would be necessary to get these results. However, a class though intense is also an internal, well-focused experience.
I became more “zen”, and that’s what we all expect from Yoga… But it happened very slowly; I became more external to events around me. I react less intensely to disagreements and I am more positive than before. I am more combative, yet serene.
My body handles external stress well. I am rarely sick. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with a kidney disease, which was supposed to create edema (water retention either in my lungs or in my brain or both). My doctor was surprised and he couldn’t believe that I didn’t look like the Michelin man. I was sorry to disappoint him so I left him… I am today in remission and I am certain that my Yoga practice is the main reason for it, by helping the circulation of energy which strengthens the body’s defenses.
I also practiced during both my pregnancies and I never experienced back pain, circulation or any other problems. I was feeling in shape and I was waiting impatiently for my Yoga sessions during which I was installed in postures that gave me and my babies great comfort and a breathing ease which, with my big belly, I had a difficult time getting otherwise. I was told that Yoga babies are peppy babies; I confirm…
Today I practice daily (usually in the morning), and I start my day with a lot of energy and a fit body, which is indispensable as I work in front of a computer screen which doesn’t leave me a lot of time to move around.
I thank this science every day, this art, this philosophy that will keep bringing me well-being, knowledge and joy for the rest of my life.”

Pierre Demortain, engineer

“Yoga means to me a better understanding of the relationship between mind and body: In everyday life, we put our body through a lot, more or less consciously (stress, fatigue, pain, bad habits…).
I have a very full schedule daily, and I wanted to regain control so as to “catch my balance”.
The awareness of breathing, a finer appreciation of my muscles, a certain serenity, and a renewed capacity for relaxation are blending little by little and give me real strength through this new harmony between my body and my Self.
Himayoga, and Iyengar Yoga practice (a rather dynamic form), has given speedy answers to my quest.”

Pascale Joseph, translator

“Dear Céline,
It’s been 3 years since I came through Amala’s door, now Himayoga. Since the first day, I felt the desire to practice Yoga regularly. Six months later, I stopped smoking (and so far I haven’t relapsed).  In addition to the many benefits of this technique, there is also a real pleasure in taking your classes. Thank you!”

Laurent, bank director

“Yoga Changed my life! A better psychological balance, a better health, quicker recovery after long workdays… I am thankful not only to Yoga, but also to Céline, who knows how to transmit her art!”

Martine, attorney

“With Yoga, Céline has taught me how to integrate well-being in my daily life. She masters her discipline thoroughly and shows profound human qualities. It is a joy to take classes at Himayoga; I wait for this moment impatiently, when I get to relax completely.”

Yasmina, student

“I started Yoga in the U.S., and what a joy to find classes of such quality in Paris!
Thank you Himayoga team, for your good spirits, enthusiasm and professionalism!”
