Thematic Yoga workshops are scheduled on Sundays, from 10 am to 1 pm. They are directed by Céline Miconnet, director and founder of Himayoga, and Christa Bricka, member of the faculty at Himayoga.

Yoga and women’s health ; sunday 20th of June

A woman’s life is regulated into cycles such as the menstrual cycle. Our body is also regulated by life cycles, related to important physical, hormonal and psychological changes.

Yoga is the best support to find a physical and mental balance. Yoga is also helpful to facilitate transitions through different life stages: adolescence, young womanhood, pregnancy, pre-menopause, menopause…
During this workshop, we will explore some beneficial Yoga postures for women and we will learn to adjust a pose, if needed:

  • Menstrual cycle: how to maintain or to get an optimal cycle (in the case of amenorrhea for instance)
  • Pre-menopause or menopause: How to maintain both serenity and dynamism.

Depending on the amount of students and their needs, we will focus on specific areas. You are welcome to let us know about your wishes when you apply for the workshop. Men are welcome to this workshop if they feel like joining! The postures that we will study are beneficial for everyone’s balance…

Yoga, shoulders and chest : sunday 6th of june

This workshop will focus on the upper chest opening (around the sternum area) through Yoga postures. A chemical shift is happening in the brain when stretching the body: the body becomes lighter, cool, firm and quiet. “Our energy is directed where we focus our mind”.
This workshop will be built around a specific sequencing during which props will be used for support. The class will end with breathing exercises, before a final Shavasana (deep relaxation) with support, in order to fully experience the sensation of well-being, procured by the opening of the upper chest.

A healthy back with Yoga: sunday 23rd of May 2010

Himayoga offers a complete program for this workshop: a full day to understand how yoga is beneficial for the back. “We need to understand what our back tells us, and how to make a posture right for it”.
Depending on the back areas that need focus and attention (lower back, middle back or upper back) and also depending on its sensitivity, different postures are practiced, in a different manner.
This one day workshop is about exploring everyone’s back issues and some ways to fix and improve them with Yoga.

Yoga and back bends: sunday 24th of April 2010

Yoga and spring detox: sunday 18th of April 2010

Restore your body and get rejuvenated!
After a long winter, let’s welcome spring. Our body is very sensitive to nature’s rhythms, and every so often, it needs to cleanse and to rejuvenate.
So, treat yourself with a special Yoga detox program in order to eliminate toxins, cleanse, and restore your body.
With an introduction to Kriyas techniques (yogic internal cleansing) and with specific Yoga postures, we will remove body toxins and help muscles and internal organs, such as the lungs, the liver, and the stomach to regenerate.  
Yoga is the best way to eliminate body toxins, and it also helps to release emotional blocks. We will help the entire body and mind system to find a balance.
It is essential to come to this class with an empty stomach.

YOGA and Sun Salutation: Sun 28th of March 2010

According to Yoga tradition, one should begin the day with a combination of poses called “Sun Salutation” (“soorya namascar” in sanskrit). In this workshop, open to students who would like to learn the Salutations, we’ll study especially the following:

  • Symbolic meaning of Sun Salutations in Yoga
  • Their beneficial effects on bodily and mental health: The opening and loosening of the body helps fighting depression, and promotes the circulation of energy for instance.
  • The detail of the sequence as to learn and practice flow
  • Different combinations with various Yoga postures.

Hips opening : sunday 14th of march 2100

This is an all-level workshop focusing on the pelvic part of the body, with the goal to prepare for Padmasana, the Lotus posture. The symbolism related to the pelvis will also be studied.

Yoga postures : sunday 7th of february 2010

Take advantage of this exceptional workshop focusing on “forgotten” Yoga postures. This is an invite to Yoga practitioners who know about the renowned book “Light on Yoga” written by B.K.S. Iyengar and who wonder how to practice certain impressive postures. Very often, because of a lack of time, those postures are rarely practiced during a regular Yoga class. They require a major opening and availability of the body, which is obtained with a longer and a special preparation. During this workshop, enjoy the process of getting prepared for these postures, with a step by step sequencing. A perfect workshop to enrich your practice!

e will particularly explore how the alignment of the pelvis connected to the alignment of the neck improves body and mind health functions, while promoting a relaxed but alert nervous system. Everything (almost!) about the knee!: learn how to strengthen it, to stretch it, to align it while practicing Yoga. This joint is constantly called on during our daily life and it is essential to take good care of it. We can adapt our Yoga practice in relation to our body type and to our physical activities. It is important to strengthen the knee to maintain its health or to heal its injuries.

Dimanche 01.03.2009 : Comment chasser les tensions de la nuque, épaules et du haut du dos ?

L'ATELIER EST DESORMAIS COMPLET. LES INSCRIPTIONS SONT CLOSES. UNE LISTE D'ATTENTE A NEANMOINS ETE MISE EN PLACE.

Les contractions accumulées à ces endroits sont souvent dues au stress et/ou à une mauvaise position de travail. Les tensions physiques s’accumulent  d’autant plus que nous fournissons en même temps un travail intellectuel demandeur.  Et la spirale du stress apparait : la douleur physique contribue aussi à tendre le cerveau, le système nerveux est mis à rude épreuve et génère également des tensions .

Pour sortir de ce cercle vicieux, une pratique régulière de Yoga est salutaire : lors de cet atelier nous explorerons les postures  à faire pour retrouver ou conserver épaules, nuque, et haut du dos détendus et souples :

 C’ est une condition sine qua non pour  retrouver un système nerveux en bonne santé.
